Last month I photographed for Mr. Tang’s wedding, through which I fortunately experienced the jubilant atmosphere in the Mountain City—-Chongqing.  Actually, wedding ceremony in Chongqing shares much common with that in Guangzhou. We got up before five o’clock to festoon the given car, then drove to fetch the bride. The wedding ceremony here seemed much easier than that in Guangzhou, because our fetching team entered the bride’s house without any obstacles( It is part of customs for some places in China to set some barriers before the groom successfully takes the bride back home, for example the groom will be thwarted by the bride’s friends or neighbors till the groom give them some lucky money.). And it was also smooth to find the bride’s shoes(Also a kind of wedding rite: the groom must find the bride’s shoes and wear them for the bride before he takes the bride away from her house), for we got some hints from our “spies”, otherwise god knows when we would find the shoes so indolently. The difference between Chongqing wedding and Guangzhou wedding was the time when the formal wedding rite would be held. In Chongqing, it was held at noon. After that people could entertain by playing Majiang till the evening, then engorge a luxuriant feast. What a wonderful time!
